Men's Basketball Shoots Way Past Michigan Tech

HOUGHTON, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's basketball program (13-8, 10-7 GLIAC) earned a key GLIAC North Division win, 68-47, at Michigan Tech (13-11, 11-6 GLIAC) on Thursday night.  The wire-to-wire win was WSU's first victory at MTU since Jan. 17, 2013.

DETROIT --  It would appear that the Wayne State University men's basketball program (14-8, 11-7 GLIAC) are getting hot at the right time and will look to continue that momentum as the Warriors travel to Northwood (5-22, 3-15 GLIAC) on Thursday and Lake Superior State (14-8, 11-7 GLIAC) on Saturday.  WSU can secure its first GLIAC Tournament berth since 2012-13 and are still in the hunt to host a home playoff game on Feb. 28th.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's basketball team (16-9, 13-8 GLIAC) entered the night needing a win and some help from around the league to secure a home GLIAC Quarterfinal game next week.  The Warriors stormed back to steal one from Saginaw Valley State (17-11, 10-11 GLIAC) 57-53 on Thursday night.  For much of the night it looked like WSU might be hosting a playoff game but a late surge from Lake Superior State gave the Lakers the fourth and final home playoff game on Feb. 28th.

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The GLIAC announced its All-League teams this afternoon as voted on by the conference head coaches.  Junior Chuck Key (Detroit, Mich. / Cass Tech) earned First Team All-GLIAC honors, while graduate student Michael Lewis (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Huron) was named to the All-Defensive Team.

DETROIT -- After a thrilling finish to the regular season, the Wayne State University men's basketball program (16-9, 13-8 GLIAC) will begin postseason play entering the GLIAC Tournament as the fifth-seed.  The Warriors will travel to fourth-seeded Michigan Tech (15-13, 13-8) for a Tuesday night quarterfinal clash.  The teams split the two regular season meetings with the road team capturing each contest.

HOUGHTON, Mich. -- A late comeback attempt fell short as the Wayne State University men's basketball team (16-10) dropped its GLIAC Tournament opener, 92-84, at Michigan Tech (16-13) on Tuesday night.  The Huskies took the season's rubber match as the road team won both matchups during the regular season.  WSU trailed by as many as 19 in the second half of this GLIAC Quarterfinal contest, but a late rally made it interesting as the Warriors cut the Huskies' lead to five (86-81) with 31 seconds remaining.

This is the fifth year that the NABC has recognized teams from across the nation in all divisions for their academic success.
